Experience
Education, intellectual development, and research journey. Exploring the intersection of mathematics, continental philosophy, and quantitative finance.
📚Intellectual Journey
The Path to Synthesis
I arrived at Cornell as a math major who quickly became disillusioned with pure mathematics as an end in itself. The metaphysical games and formal proofs felt disconnected from understanding anything real about the world.
Continental philosophy changed that. Nietzsche, Heidegger, Lacan, Marx—these weren't abstract exercises but powerful frameworks for understanding power, desire, ideology, and the structures that shape human experience. Including financial markets.
My intellectual project now is synthesis: bringing rigorous quantitative methods together with deep philosophical insight to find edge in markets that pure mathematicians or pure philosophers might miss.

♠️Poker Journey
Poker was my first love in the world of strategic games. I learned about expected value, bankroll management, reading opponents, and emotional discipline at the poker table—years before I encountered these concepts in finance.
The overlap between poker and trading isn't metaphorical—it's structural. Both are games of incomplete information, expected value calculation, and reading human psychology. Every quant trader I respect has a poker background.
This site is named after 9-5 offsuit—one of poker's worst hands. Because edge isn't about playing premium hands. It's about knowing when to play the "bad" hands in the right situations.
